How a Brow Lift Works
This procedure requires 1 to 2 hours of operating time, typically under local anesthesia. General anesthesia is also an option. Your face is thoroughly cleansed and your hair is tied back behind the hairline. Dr. Rosen makes a precise incision behind the hairline. The forehead skin is gently lifted and trimmed and the underlying tissues are altered for a smoother appearance. The brow elevation is fixated with special titanium screws and the incisions are closed with stitches or clips. A soft absorbent dressing will be applied to the treated area. After a Brow Lift: What You Will Experience
After your brow lift, you will need to relax for about 7 to 10 days before resuming your normal routine. Within 3 days you can shower and shampoo your hair. Medications will help manage discomfort during this time. Your stitches or staples will be removed within the first week. During recovery from brow lift surgery, it is common to experience some numbness, nausea and mild swelling. After 3 weeks, almost all signs of surgery will be gone. Your results can last as long as 5 to 10 years.Possible Brow Lift Complications
All cosmetic surgery procedures carry a risk of complications. With a brow lift, possible adverse events include nerve damage and impaired function (requiring corrective surgery), scarring, alopecia along scar edge, loss of sensation, itching, infection, bleeding, asymmetry, brow ptosis recurrence and unsatisfactory results.Brow Lift Alternatives: What are my options?
There are many variations in brow lift surgery and several related procedures. One minimally invasive technique called the endoscopic brow lift uses small incisions and a special viewing instrument to elevate a drooping brow. Other techniques that may be appropriate include the coronal lift, pretrichial lift, mid forehead lift, direct brow lift and internal brow lift.
