Before & After

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is a method of surgical body fat removal, allowing you to improve the contour of specific body areas, slimming down troublesome spots on the body that carry persistent fat and won’t respond to diet or exercise. You can have almost any area of the body treated with our liposuction procedure, but for safety reasons, there is a limit to the amount of fat that can be removed. If you’re interested in learning more about what liposuction in Doylestown can do for you, reach out and set up your consultation with Dr. Rosen today!

Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

Important to remember is that liposuction procedure is not a weight loss solution. Good candidates are at a stable and healthy body weight, but they are dissatisfied with persistent areas of fat, and have found that diet and exercise just won’t smooth things over.

You’re likely a great candidate for liposuction in Bucks County with Dr. Rosen if you have proper skin laxity and are dealing with the persistent fat in the following areas:

  • Tummy
  • Back
  • Love handles (flanks)
  • Thighs
  • Buttocks
  • Neck
  • Chin
  • Arms

What are the benefits of liposuction?

Liposuction is incredibly popular because it is considered a safe procedure and has more than a 90% satisfaction rate with clients. It provides a number of benefits:

  • Long-lasting results
  • Reshapes your physique
  • Greatly boosts confidence
  • Targets stubborn body fat in the neck, thighs, hips, chest, buttocks, abdomen or back
  • Enjoy a slimmer, trimmer, sculpted physique
  • Minimal scarring
  • Better fit in clothing

How the Liposuction Procedure Works

Liposuction procedures vary widely, but Dr. Rosen is committed to the gold standard — tumescent liposuction. With this technique, Dr. Rosen uses a tumescent solution to infiltrate the targeted area before removing fat with suction.

The solution, which contains an anesthetic, firms the fat for easier removal before small incisions are made. A narrow tube — called a cannula — is inserted to dislodge and vacuum the fat. As bodily fluid is inevitably lost during the procedure, intravenous fluids will be administered, and minor procedures are performed under local anesthesia, with major procedures using general anesthesia.

Recovering After Your Liposuction Procedure

Immediately after your liposuction in Doylestown with Dr. Rosen, a small drainage tube may be placed to prevent any buildup of fluid.

This will be removed in 2 days or less. An elastic garment is provided for you to wear, which will promote skin contraction and help control swelling.

You will be advised to walk around shortly after the procedure. During this time, medications will help manage discomfort. Numbness, swelling, and a slight burning sensation are normal during recovery from liposuction.

Are There Possible Liposuction Complications?

As with just about any surgical procedure, there are some risks that come along with liposuction. By choosing a board-certified doctor with a high level of experience like Dr. Rosen, however, you can very effectively mitigate quite a lot of these risks. The risk for complications increases when large volumes of fat are removed. Adverse events include but are not limited to: infection, lidocaine toxicity, unsatisfactory cosmetic results, delayed healing, clot formation, excessive fluid loss, trauma to surrounding tissues, and unfavorable drug reactions.

What If I Gain Weight After Liposuction?

Fat does not return to the area treated with liposuction, though we strongly recommend that you initiate a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and regular exercisebefore and after your liposuction. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle after your procedure goes a very long way towards maintaining your results and keeping that ideal body type. A significant amount of weight gain will show in other areas of your body where you did not receive liposuction so we recommend maintaining your targeted weight based on your height and body type.

Liposuction FAQs:

What are the different types of liposuction?

Types of liposuction include tumescent liposuction, ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL), laser-assisted liposuction (SmartLipo), and power-assisted liposuction (PAL). Each type uses different techniques to break down fat cells for removal.

How much does liposuction cost?

The cost varies depending on the surgeon, location, and the size and number of areas being treated.

Can liposuction be combined with other procedures?

Yes, liposuction is often combined with other procedures like tummy tucks, facelifts, or breast surgeries to achieve more comprehensive results.

Will I have scars after liposuction?

Liposuction involves small incisions, so any scarring is typically minimal and fades over time. The scars are usually placed in less noticeable areas.

How soon will I see results after liposuction?

Initial results can be seen once the swelling and bruising subside, usually within a few weeks. Final results are generally visible after several months once the body has fully healed.

Is liposuction a weight loss method?

Liposuction is not a weight loss solution but a body contouring procedure. It is best for removing stubborn fat deposits in people who are already close to their ideal weight.
